    You can actually call it many things. Some call it a flat stitch some call it a square stitch and there are others that call it a cobra stitch.

    i would like to make some corrections here..what she calls a flat stich is actually a square knot. and what she calls a round stich is called half hitches. also it is a lot easier if she used a toggle to put a strain on the tail ends of the material while she is forming the square knots and half hitches..need to know ask a sailor. we’ve been doing it for hundreds of years.yarrrh.
