Some men show their love and devotion to their wives with an eternity ring. These pieces of jewelry are symbolic of an affection that will never die. They are meant to complement the engagement ring and wedding ring by emphasizing eternal unity. What should you consider when buying an eternity ring?

One item that should be considered is the eternity rings style. The eternity bands that are designated as full have stones that span the circumference of the band. This type of band is quite thick, and that makes sizing difficult. Because of this, the majority of full bands must be custom fit and many jewelers therefore have no samples available to try. Half bands a nice alternative because of their practicality and they arent as pricey. Some hold fast to the idea that an eternity ring has to be full because an entire band of jewels indicates a closed circle that neither begins nor ends.

Another consideration when buying an eternity ring is the proper time to do so. Occasionally, they are purchased before marriage, but that is usually not the case. There is actually no specific time at which to buy an eternity ring, but after one year of marriage has become increasingly popular. Some scoff at that and think that after 10 or even 25 years of wedded bliss is more appropriate. Eternity is a long time, and some people feel that one year does not adequately represent that. Still others purchase an eternity ring upon the birth of their first child.

The settings which the band employs are also things to consider when looking at rings. The shared prong band is a favorite of some. The diamonds are individually set, and are held in place with two, three, or four prongs. The channel set is another favored style of band. Here, the diamonds sit snugly together but do not sit atop one another. A continuous strip of metal on each side of the band holds the stones in place. One style that is a little more sophisticated is the Pave. Metal in beads secures the diamonds, and that requires handcrafting. It goes without saying that this style has a significant price tag, but the ring is quite beautiful.

An eternity ring is a great way to show your wife that you will love her forever and that she means everything to you. Regardless of at what point in the relationship you are when you buy one, it is a lovely sentiment. The symbolism behind an eternity ring is what matters.
